Why We Started Cornerstone Ag Partners

Cornerstone Ag Partners was founded from a simple realization: many producers need a trusted partner dedicated to helping them navigate grain marketing and risk management.

Before Cornerstone was created, Andy and Hugo had worked together for years managing the marketing of Andy's grain operation. Their relationship began when Hugo was working for a grain merchandising company, where he helped develop and execute marketing strategies for Andy's farm. Through that experience, Andy gained firsthand confidence in the value of having a dedicated advisor focused on grain marketing, allowing him to spend more time leading and managing the rest of his operation.

As conversations evolved around the possibility of Hugo working directly with Andy's operation, a larger opportunity became clear. The challenges Andy faced were not unique. Across agriculture, producers were being asked to wear more hats than ever before—managing production, finances, employees, equipment, landowners, and family responsibilities—while also attempting to make critical grain marketing decisions in increasingly volatile markets. On top of this, the increasing pressure to utilize grain storage to maximize efficiency and return on investment—keeping cash flow needs at the forefront of marketing decisions—and operating your grain facility as a commercial elevator does is becoming increasingly more necessary.

They recognized that many farmers not only wanted an experienced professional in their corner; someone whose primary focus was helping them make informed marketing and risk management decisions (without the conflicts and distractions often found elsewhere in the industry) but also an individual who could see through the lens of a commercial merchandiser, who's spent years of his career thinking like an elevator, to tie all the pieces of the puzzle together.

That realization became the foundation of Cornerstone Ag Partners.

Today, Cornerstone exists to provide producers with independent guidance, personalized marketing strategies, and a trusted partnership that helps bring clarity and confidence to some of the most important decisions they make.

Hugo vanRoessel

CO-FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL ADVISOR

Hugo vanRoessel is the founder of Cornerstone Ag Partners, where he serves as a Grain Marketing Partner. Born in the Netherlands, Hugo moved to the United States in 1999 when his family built a dairy farm operation from the ground up — instilling in him a deep understanding of what is at stake for agricultural producers. He earned a dual degree in Business and Agricultural Economics from Purdue University before spending over a decade in the commercial grain industry, where he advanced through roles in origination, elevator management, and leading origination teams. Hugo founded Cornerstone Ag Partners to bring that experience directly to producers, offering the commercial-level insight and execution that today's grain markets demand.



HUGO'S BELIEFS:
Today's farming operations are growing in size and complexity, and with that growth comes an increasing need for dedicated, long-term grain marketing support. At Cornerstone Ag Partners, we believe that having a trusted partner who deeply understands your operation — one who is in it for the long haul — delivers real, measurable value when it comes to marketing your grain.

We also believe the grain industry is undergoing a fundamental shift. End users are increasingly relying on producers to fulfill just-in-time logistics, particularly as it relates to grain storage. In effect, farms are now stepping into a role traditionally held by commercial grain elevators, vertically integrating their operations to meet that demand.

Andy Hruby

CO-FOUNDER

As a lifelong farmer and agricultural entrepreneur, Andy brings firsthand experience and practical insight to every client relationship at Cornerstone Ag Partners. His grain operation gives him a firsthand understanding of the decisions, pressures, and opportunities that define a modern farming operation. His background extends beyond production agriculture, he has built and operated multiple agricultural businesses while remaining actively involved in the farm's day-to-day operations.

Passionate about working both IN the business and ON the business, Andy understands the importance of balancing operational excellence with long-term strategy. His experience navigating grain markets, managing risk, evaluating business opportunities, and making data-driven decisions provides a unique perspective that resonates with today's producers. He draws on farm business management experience gained through his work as an associate with Ag View Solutions.

Beyond his own operation, Andy focuses on the direction of Cornerstone Ag Partners through strategic growth and building the advisory team to serve producers at a higher level. He ensures the firm stays grounded in practical farm economics while scaling it's capacity to deliver comprehensive, operation-level support. Throughout his career, he has been committed to helping agricultural operations improve profitability, strengthen decision-making processes, and position themselves for long-term success. His farmer-first approach is rooted in the belief that every operation is unique and deserves practical, customized solutions rather than one-size-fits-all recommendations.

While Cornerstone Ag Partners offers grain marketing services, Andy's primary focus is helping farm businesses create long-term value and sustainability through sound management and planning. He works with producers to strengthen the business side of their operations through farm business consulting, cost-of-production analysis, strategic planning, and farm transition planning. Drawing from his experience as both a farmer and business owner, he works alongside clients to identify opportunities, improve financial performance, and build a roadmap for where their operation is headed.
